Built Green Canada Extends Support for Maritimes Rebuild
Mid-September 2022, post-tropical storm Fiona hit Canada's east coast, bringing strong winds and flooding, destroying homes, and leaving thousands of people without power across the Maritime provinces. Built Green Canada has reached out and offered support for the Maritimes' rebuilding efforts.
With the many of challenges and opportunities facing the east coast, Built Green Canada has extended support by providing a financial offering, with the aim to help the affected provinces rebuild more sustainable, durable with disaster preparedness options. For all builders involved in the rebuilding efforts, the organization will waive training fees, and certification fees on their first Single Family homes certified through these third-party certification programs. For High Density projects, certification fees will be reduced by 25 per cent on their first project.
“With a spotlight on the Maritimes' rebuilding efforts, there is an opportunity to showcase the good work happening in sustainable development, while the municipalities, builders, trades, and organizations like Built Green Canada come together to rebuild and strengthen the affected communities," says Built Green Canada Chief Executive Officer Jenifer Christenson.
Built Green's affordable, straight-forward programs guide builders, renovators, restorers, and developers to a holistic approach, which addresses energy efficiency, and then goes beyond to include the preservation of natural resources, reduction of pollution & GHG emissions, ventilation & air quality, the improvement of home durability, disaster preparedness building options, and more. It’s an approach that benefits the environment as well as homeowners, who will enjoy a healthier, more durable home with a lower environmental impact, with a reduction in the homeowner’s monthly operating costs, rebate eligibility, improved resale value, and more.
Built Green Canada is a national, industry-driven, non-profit organization offering third-party certification programs for those interested in sustainable practices in the residential building sector.
